The Shadow is the world of Assassins. The place where Assassins and their Societies operate. [1]
The World of Shadow[]
This is the realm of Assassins. Shadow is not an alternate dimension or reality, or a shard of the real world. It operates alongside the day-to-day world, but disappears under scrutiny. The Shadow is inaccessible and unnoticable to the people of Daylight, unless they are dragged into it. The Inspired powers of Assassins keeps their operations protected.
All Societies and the Service operate out of the Shadow. They exist in material reality, but they don't exist legally. If a person in Daylight has heard of the Shadow it is in the form of urban legends and conspiracy theories. The criminals of Twilight know that the Shadow exists, assassins of the Shadow are extremely powerful, and that you do not fuck over your Shadow associates if you value your life.
Shadow and the Flux[]
Where Assassins gather their Inspiration creates a barrier of Flux that keeps the Shadow seperate from the rest of the world. The Shadow is ignored by everyday people who walk past locations that are part of it, but never deem to enter.
The Shadow itself is ever-so-slightly anachronistics, which is why extra dimensional anomalies and beings do not appear within the Shadow. This has the side-effect that antiquated technology and weapons see regular use.
Characters who can sense the presence of Flux can identify Shadow locations, but if they value their lives will avoid entering.
