A satisfactory intelligence (or simply SI) is a piece of software used for standard comms and networks that's capable of both speaking and understanding colloquial speech. SIs are technically not conscious, but may people react to them as though they are.
SIs are a class of AI. After the Shanghai Accords of 2084, self-aware artificial intelligence was banned. Since a wide array of "smart" systems were called AI, despite not possessing self-awareness, this encouraged the adoption of specific terms AS (artificial sentience) for the dangerous kind, and SI for the safe kind.[1]
