Polyphemus is a joint venture created by Project Cyclops (cataloguing unusual flora and fauna) and Project Argonaut (researching strange and exotic locations), created to oversee the trans-mundane, most frequently things which have somehow been infused with Flux.
History[]
Projects Cyclops (flora and fauna), Argonaut (locations), and Talos (objects) were created to examine the strange and unusual, both the esoteric and the mundane. Much of their research was recorded into the collection of reports known as the Babel Dossier, with physical retrievals stored in a secure location known as the Babel Vault.
A few years into Talos' mission, they went silent. No trace has been found of them or their remains. Later investigators theorized some sort of trans-dimensional mishap, and hold out hope that the disappearance can be reversed.
In their absence, Cyclops and Argonaut created a splinter initiative, Polyphemus, established by director Jason Falconeri on Michael Mercer's orders. The Æon Council directed Falconeri to the Vault, formerly the headquarters of a group of Assassins known as the Pyramid. Polyphemus picked up Talos' interest in objects and expanded it to cover their parent organizations' specialties of people, places, and plants.
Organization[]
The Vault is built into a an abandoned salt mine outside of Chicago, and resembles a round brutalist building from the outside. Director Jason Falconeri is never seen in person, but orders are nonetheless delivered via outmoded pneumatic tubes, despite the rest of the organization having upgraded to computers (albeit still quite outdated).

Background Information[]
- Polyphemus is inspired by the SCP Foundation, Men in Black, Control, Warehouse 13, Sanctuary, Portal 2, Librarians, Fringe, Torchwood, and Loki. It's very similar to the National Office of Emergency Research, but leans more heavily into the Kafkaesque "office horror" of the TVA, the Oldest House, Aperture Science, and The Stanley Parable.
- There are two characters in Greek mythology named Polyphemus: a cyclops from Homer's Odyssey, and an Argonaut. It's a natural choice for a union between Projects Cyclops and Argonaut.
- The symbol is designed to look like a single cyclopean eye, but to fit in the existing design language of the Æon Society's other symbols.
- The symbol changed in between its appearance in the original Storypath Tasty Bit and its appearance in the Trinity Continuum Player's Guide, with a wider center circle.
Concept
- The "Hearken, Secure, Unveil" motto is a reference to both the SCP's "Secure, Contain, Protect," and to the initials of the Æon Society's "Hope, Sacrifice, Unity."
