- The Hammersmith Incident. Dr. Sir Calvin Hammersmith demonstrates a device, which explodes. Hammersmith himself dies in the explosion. The explosion causes a number of people around the world -- including Maxwell Anderson Mercer, Michael Damien Donighal, and Saraswati Kaur Bhurano, who were all present at the explosion -- to become Talents, or imbued with Quantum- or Psi-based powers.[1][2][3][4][5][6]
- Maxwell Anderson Mercer disappears. He reappears several months later in a hospital in Essex under the care of close friend Doctor Primoris, claiming amnesia of the missing months.[2]
- Assassins begin to appear in far greater numbers than in previous decades.[7]
