- As part of NASA's Artemis mission to return to the Moon, the Karagian twins Janos and Janice become the first novas to set foot on the Moon without the aid of spacesuits or vehicles. The New Year's Falre" they emit from the lunar surface is visible from Earth. They announce "the first Moon base will be intended as the home of Apollo, Artemis, and any gods we may send in the future: Olympus."[2][3]
- Following a successful referendum, Scotland officially becomes an independent country, and promptly petitions to rejoin the European Union.[4]
