Elites aren't a distinct group, so much as they are an umbrella term for nova freelancers. The term originated with military mercenary novas, who hired themselves out as one-person armies, but while term has expanded to cover freelancers in other fields as well, a lot of the symbology and associated jargon remains military in origin.[1]

History[]

Elites got their start in 2018, not long after N-Day, with the founding of the first nova contract business, the DeVries Agency.

Organization[]

A number of agencies are responsible for the management of elites in various fields:

  • The Argus Agency, a pre-relief agency that uses its founder's precognitive abilities to avert (or at least minimize) disaster.
  • The DeVries Agency, the first name in nova mercenaries.
  • Novelty Consulting, the biggest agency for novas in the domain of business and technical consulting.

Background Information[]

  • While both nova freelancers and mercenary Elites appeared in Aberrant 1st Edition, here the two concepts are combined.
  • Their symbol bears the Latin text "Aut Viam Iveniam Aut Faciam," or "I will find a way, or make one." This phrase was supposedly said by Hannibal after his generals told him it was impossible to cross the Alps by elephant. The phrase, or variations on it, apepars on a number of badges and insignia within the US military.
