  • Nova Calvert Wycoff self-immolates above Hastings, Nebraska. The explosion destroys everything within a radius of 200 kilometers, and seriously damages soil fertility within 1,000 kilometers.[1] US policy shifts from trying to register and contain Aberrants to killing on sight. All but the most powerful Aberrants leave the US.[2][3][4]

September[]

  • September 28: With no one to turn to for help[5], the President of the United States of America declares martial law in an attempt to reestablish control. It's the final historically significant act of the last US president.[6]

  • Halley's Comet returns to the inner solar system, reaching perihelion (the closest point in its orbit to the sun) on July 28.
