- According to Duke Rollo, the last military appropriations bill that doesn't pass with 100% congressional support happens this year.[1]
- Cyrus Katrak posts photos from the surface of Mars, together with a rover and NASA/ESA astronauts. The Daedalus League clarifies that Katrak had been transporting components of the mission through the last year, drastically lightening the load for the astronaut's spaceship.[2]
- An underground wrestling promotion finally gains a name, inspired by the increased number of their nova events: Nova Combat.[3]
January[]
- January 24: The London Peace Accord establishes an independent Palestine along the border of Israel and Egypt, and placing Jerusalem under UN administration. [[Project Utopia agrees to help monitor the new border and provide humanitarian aid and infrastructure to Palestine.[4]
February[]
- A year after its founding, the Daedalus League assists in a joint USA and European Union flag-planting mission to Mars. Plans begin for a permanent Mars base.[5][4]
March[]
- Project Utopia announces Operation Clean Sweep has introduced bio-remedial bacteria into the oceans, which will restore water quality to pre-Industrial Revolution levels within five years, including the breakdown of tons of waste plastic and petroleum.[4]
- Nova genius Vladimir Sierka secretly rises to power in Russia.[4]
May[]
- Spurred by a coup attempt against the Democratic Republic of the Congo's President Joseph Kabila, a series of border wars erupt in west Africa, as several nations field Elites -- nova mercenaries -- for the first time in open conflict. The conflicts become known as the Equatorial Wars. Project Utopia's attempts to intervene end in disaster, with Team Tomorrow novas unprepared for military-trained novas willing to use lethal force, resulting in the deaths of T2M members Slag and All-Star.[4][6][7][8]
- A number of refugees from the Equatorial Wars flee directly to Canada rather than trying their luck in the United States.[9]
June[]
- Following the Team Tomorrow/Elite conflict, the United Nations Security Council invokes Chapter V, Article 24, Directive 9 of the UN Charter, establishing an organization to monitor Project Utopia and the world's growing nova population. Although officially the International Commission on Nova Activities (ICNA), the organization is more commonly known to the world as "the Directive."[4][10]
August[]
- Nova fashion designer and fiber animist Anibal "Tejido" Buendía creates a carbon-silicate nanotube fiber that becomes known as "eufiber." The material shows a remarkable ability to channel and store certain kinds of energy. Project Utopia begins outfitting their novas in eufiber uniforms and begins investigating other potential uses.[4]
October[]
- Project Utopia and Team Tomorrow launch the World Crime Task Force and begin going after organized crime worldwide. Within months, the task force has led to hundreds of arrests and indictments, and the dismantling of crime cartels in several nations.[4]
November[]
- The Equatorial Wars finally come to an end after Project Utopia and the United Nations negotiate a ceasefire in Africa, leading to international negotiations about military deployment and use of novas.
December[]
- December 31: The Æon Society reports 750 known novas worldwide.[4]
