- March 23: N-Day. At 12:18 pm GMT, The Galatea orbital station explodes, kicking off the Nova Age.[16][17][18] At 3:31 pm GMT (11:31 am local time), firefighter Randel Portman manifests superhuman powers, absorbing all the fire from a burning apartment building into his body. He's dubbed "the Fireman" by media.[19][20][21]
- Although they typically only meet twice a month, the Æon Council begins meeting almost daily to keep abreast of the unfolding Galatea phenomenon.[22]
- After having delayed elections for two years, President Joseph Kabila of the Democratic Republic of the Congo declares a state of emergency due to N-Day and delays elections indefinitely. The action sets the stage for the 2021 Equatorial Wars.[23]
- March 30: The Æon Society's Dr. Lauren M. Seyler issues a preliminary paper titled "Biological variations in humans demonstrating unique capabilities" about the recent eruption of people with strange powers.[24]
April[]
- April 2: The Æon Society offers their assistance to the United Nations to seek out and study the phenomenon of people with "aberrant powers." The term "nova" is adopted in response to the suggested taxonomy of Homo sapiens novus. The term "baseline" enters popular use not long after.[19]

Henri Mazarin and Farah Rashoud release their initial findings on novas, including detection of Mazarin-Rashoud flux detected in brain scans, M-R coils in cellular examinations. Their findings suggest novas manipulate the four fundamental quantum forces: gravity, electromagetism, and the strong and weak nuclear forces. The findings reinforce the use of "baseline" in the public dialog to refer to non-novas, and the association of the buzzword "quantum" with novas and their powers.[25]
- December 31: The Æon Society estimates there are 200 novas worldwide.[27][25]
