- Receiving a cryptic message about "The Cradle," Æon Society member Cyrille Dubois begins an expedition in to the Congo.[2]
- Western Australia all but declares its intention to secede from the British Commonwealth.[3]
- As part of his New Deal, President Roosevelt creates the Grand Investment in Science and Technology (GIST) program, appointing an aged Nikola Tesla as its Commissioner.[4]
- Coups break out in Buenos Aires, Corrientes, Entre Rios, and Misiones, leading to thousands of arrests.[5]

- January 30: Hitler takes office as Chancellor and immediately calls for new elections, promising a conservative coalition.[6]
June[]
- The Night of Long Knives: Hitler orders the execution of 200 of his political rivals.[6]
September[]
- September 13: Nikola Tesla visits with a young Winifred Cooper about her proposal to create a train propulsion system using magnetism and super-conductors. Tesla worries about the potential applications for weapons of war, exacerbated by the interest of Branch 9's Saoirse Green.[7]
