- The government of South Africa tries to curtail the voting power of Black South Africans by giving white women the right to vote.[2]
- After accusations from an American missionary that Liberia was enslaving tribal people and shipping them to the island of Ferdinand Po, Liberia invites the League of Nations to investigate. The League of Nations discovers the accusations are accurate, leading to the resignation of both the President and Vice President.[3]
- The Nazis win 107 seats in parliament, just under a fifth of the total.[4]
- After an encounter with Sanger Rainsford, Tamás Juhasz joins the Æon Society.[5]
- The Great Depression hits Guatemala.[6]

- While en route to New York City from London on her zeppelin victory tour, Lady Drummond-Hay is blown off course and finds itself adrift in the Aurora Borealis during a geomagnetic storm. Those on board witness another world with tall white spires within the rifts and eddies of the aurora. The winged inhabitants of these spires are named "Seraphim," and seem just as curious about the humans, but keep a polite distance. Lady Drummon-Hay dispatches a report to the [Æon Society]] and recommends the establishment of a northern outpost.[10]
- After having vanished 12 years earlier, the USS Cyclops sails into port in Miami, its entire crew complement healthy and accounted for. They speak of an entirely new world, unbound by conventional physics.[10]
