- Asantehene Prempeh I of the Ashanti Confederacy is permitted to return from exile, but only if he returns under the lesser title Kumasihene.[2]
- WWI vet Sanger Rainsford is shipwrecked on a remote island owned by General Zaroff. Zaroff challenges Rainsford to a test to see who is the greatest hunter: Zaroff will use all his island's resources to try to kill Rainsford, while Rainsford has only the clothes on his back and a brief head start. Despite his obvious handicap, Rainsford manages to kill Zaroff. The experience inspires him to create the Theseus Club in an effort to counter the Society of Minos of which Zaroff was a member.[3][4][5]
